Steve Lowen, Protection or Oppression?

‘Graphite on paper. Based on a collage of fourteen found images of barbed wire, a symbol of protection and oppression, keeping things in or out, comforted or threatened.’

I’m based in Chesterfield. The war artists, particularly the WWI work of Paul Nash, continue to influence my own practice.

Steve’s work is being exhibited as part of LEAVE//REMAIN, our 2016 members’ exhibition. We’ll be hosting an open evening at 6pm on Friday 28th Oct.
