In Permanent | Ken Horne | 2011 |
Born into a mining community on the outskirts of Sheffield, Ken has lived and worked for most of his life in and around the city. Much of his working life has revolved around the construction and deconstruction industry, and his artwork both draws upon and reflects his industrial experience.
The dance between freedom and constraint produces tactile work that engages the senses, often with a distinctly disturbing edge.
As part of the Galvanise festival 2011 Ken produced a new series of works using reclaimed materials, particularly metals, layering, eroding, and renewing them. As Bank Street Arts’ first artist in residence, Ken installed In Permanent here according to the natural curves of the wall and the installation can now be found in the basement corridor.
