From 23rd November- 18th December, Bank Street Arts is proud to present Minutiae, the final open submission show of 2010 showing work by 28 artists, both local and international each of whom has responded to the one word title brief ‘minutiae’ from a different angle.
The exhibition encourages viewers to explore each artwork in detail by drawing them in. Scale is an important facet of the exhibition and a large number of the works are very small, playing with the idea of size and importance; pulling the viewer in for a closer look. These small works are juxtaposed with others, somewhat larger in scale, provoking questions about relative significance. The work on show consists of drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography as well as sound and video installations. Participating artists are as follows:
Alice Bradshaw, Alistair Pett, Bryan Eccleshall and David McNab, Carl Slater, Charlotte Barker, Dara McGrath, Flis Holland, Hondartza Fraga, Ian Baxter, Jane Walker, Jared Szpakowski, Katherine Johnson, Lee Clark, Luiza Holub, Luci Eldridge, Naomi Lethbridge, Phill Hopkins, Philipa Wood, Rachael Allen, Sarah Cawkwell, Sean Williams, Serena Partridge, Sophie Littlewood, Steve White, Theresa Easton, Tracey Easham and Victoria Ellory. Curated by Rachael Caddy.
There is a Private View on the 25th November from 6-8pm. In addition to the exhibition there will be a one off chance to see local artists Bryan Eccleshall and David McNab participate in a collaborative piece of performance art to accompany their film installation. The film uses close-up filming and photography documenting their recent installation of a large Sol LeWitt drawing at Site Gallery and the close relationship they had with the work.
Some of the work is available to purchase, for that unique Christmas gift.
