This loose collective of artists and writers meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.15 to explore novel strategies for writing. Drawing on the practices of the Oulipo
(writers Georges Perec
and Raymond Queneau
were members) as well as contemporary writers like Sharon Kivland
, Simon Morris
and Kenneth Goldsmith
we challenge the way text can be generated and managed, using strategies akin to parlour games and chance, rather than drawing on Romantic notions of inspiration or self.
Typically we write (or generate text) in the meeting. Don’t expect a critique of your latest composition. There is no requirement to bring any work to the meetings, just pen, paper and a willingness to experiment.
Sessions are led by different members in turn but are flexible enough to be interrupted and derailed.
