Become a Volunteer

If you’d like to join the team then download the application form below and email the completed copy to It’s a tad more structured but it still comes with the freedom to define your own role. Over time you’ll tell us where you think you fit in the centre.

Experience you’ll gain…

You could end up wherever you like. In the past, volunteers have gained in-house experience in exhibition setup, curating, maintenance, community participation, graphic design, web design and much more. We have also been able to put people into music, film and environmental placements with some of our partner organisations. However, in the first instance you’ll form part of our gallery team, where you’ll assist with setting up exhibitions, invigilate, welcome people to the centre, and inform people of present and upcoming exhibitions.

What’s expected of you…

Usually a commitment of at least one-day per week, however we will always consider individual circumstances. Also, if you’re unable to commit to a specific day each week, you can request to be added to the Volunteer Database, all those on the database are sent regular emails requesting support, usually at short notice.

Following your stint as a Gallery Assistant you’ll be given the opportunity to redefine your role to suit your needs, talents and circumstances. The following provides a guide for volunteer progression…
